"The shuffle in human existence" refers to the process of genetic recombination that occurs during human reproduction, where genes from both parents are mixed and matched, resulting in unique genetic combinations in each offspring, essentially "shuffling" the genetic deck and contributing to the diversity within a population; this is a key mechanism driving evolution. Key points about this "shuffle": Process: During the formation of sperm and egg cells (meiosis), chromosomes from the mother and father pair up and exchange segments of DNA through a process called "crossing over," effectively mixing their genetic information. Result: Each sperm and egg cell carries a unique combination of genes, leading to diverse offspring when they combine during fertilization. She has worked in multiple spaces providing support in anti-human trafficking program development, education and awareness, and direct services. This includes starting her anti-human trafficking non-profit in 2017. While working in anti-human trafficking, she has provided direct support to survivors through trauma-informed services, street outreach, crisis response, hotline response, and advocacy. As a survivor of human trafficking, she is passionate about the needs of human trafficking and commercial exploitation survivors. She has a bachelor’s degree in theology and biblical studies, a minor in Psychology, and a master’s in crisis response and trauma counseling.
