Sunday on Transition Radio TV Show April 21st Skylar Kergil

more formally known on the internet as skylarkeleven, has been documenting his transition from female to male on YouTube since 2009. Being an activist, poet, and aspiring musician, he has only recently become more open about his transgender identity and has found that it has been extremely rewarding; mentoring transgender youth and others, traveling to educate, and continuing to grow as he transitions has been the greatest journey of his life so far. As an artist, his recent photography and writing project “Re-Humanizing the Trans-Masculine Community” has been written about in Trent Arthur Press as “a collaborative effort with the goal of recreating the spectrum of masculine identities and expressions within the transgender community” that also is “beyond sustainable. It collapses borders, ideologies, and hopefully produces some very good art.”
Described by The New Yorker as an “upbeat, articulate F.T.M.” Skylar has given speeches at The College of St. Rose and his high school as well as been invited internationally to other campuses and high schools. With plans to graduate May of 2013 from Skidmore College as a studio art major, he has dreams of continuing to be a mentor, motivational speaker, and musical performer. The FTM Den describes him as “providing light and knowledge” as well as having an acoustic style that “some would argue ‘passionate’ better describes.” On April 19th, he will be GLSEN’s breaking the silence performer and speaker in Albany, NY.

Among and before every thing else, he aims to be a positive being; through optimism, patience, and meditation, he has achieved a calmness and openness that has allowed him to become a better friend, brother, son, and partner. His favorite color is yellow and he feels a constant pull towards the ocean.
